In this chapter, you learned about the requirements that facilitate a migration from Layer 2 to Layer 3 services. These requirements range from understanding applications and bandwidth to security and enterprise segmentation for MPLS VPN service constructs. Exploring QoS implications as a basis for defining service classes also was covered. Finally, the case study captured the essential requirements and issues that are associated with a Layer 2 to Layer 3 service migration. It introduced technologies for Acme to consider, such as MPLS and routing factors that are further discussed in Chapter 4. |
