Chapter 7. When Your Network Doesn t Work the Way It Should

Chapter 7. When Your Network Doesn't Work the Way It Should

At some point in the existence of your home network, problems are bound to arise. They can range from the mildly annoying yet simple to the excruciatingly aggravating and difficult. You can resolve most of them with a little logical thought about what is going on with your network.

In general, after you set up your network, it should just continue to work. However, when the unexpected happens, such as a thunderstorm knocking out your cable or DSL modem, you may have to perform some troubleshooting to get things back up and running. This chapter guides you through some of the most common problems you will encounter and how to resolve them.
