The following terms are used in this document:
Computing space (a language term)—a set of processes of the parallel program able to play the role of abstract mpC processors.
Virtual parallel machine (an implementation term)—a parallel computing environment used to execute mpC programs. A virtual parallel machine (VPM) is defined by
a set of networked computers,
the total number of processes constituting the computing space, and
a mapping of the processes to the computers.
Host workstation (an implementation term)—any workstation or PC that may be used as a user’s working place. The user can launch mpC applications only from the host-workstation’s terminal.
