Paying for Everything

If you look around on Web sites dealing with DNS, you will most likely find ads that offer to register the domains you want in the TLDs you want, or at least in the TLDs where it's easy to register domains. Some will even do all the legal paperwork needed to set up a pro-forma legal entity in the country in question if that is necessary to secure a domain. This is a perfectly good way to register domains and it can save you a lot of work and time, if not money.

You should make sure of a couple things, though. Most of these outfits provide excellent service, but some will provide rather dubious service. As usual, a cautious attitude should be applied to anything having to do with the Internet.

You should ensure that the domain registration will list you or your organization as the administrative contact. If that is the case, the TLD registrar will respect your requests for changes at a later date, and you will not be hindered by the whims of your service provider. If the service provider is listed in all the contact fields, you can run into trouble dislodging your domain from a bad service provider. It should be entirely safe to use the accredited registrars of the .com and other three-letter TLDs for such service.
