iCards

iCards is a .Mac feature that enables you to send postcard-like e-mail messages to anyone with an e-mail address. The cards you send can use one of many photos available within iCards or a photo or other image from your iDisk storage space.

Tips

  • You do not need to be a member of .Mac to send or receive iCards. However, only .Mac members can send custom iCards that utilize their own images.

  • The announcement feature of HomePage (Figure 47) utilizes iCards to tell people about the Web sites you publish with HomePage.

To send an iCard

1.

Click the iCards button on the .Mac home page (Figure 5).

2.

In the iCards main window (Figure 48), click one of the category links.

6.

In the Enter emails box, enter the e-mail addresses of the people you want to send the postcard to. If you enter more than one address, separate each address with a comma.

7.

Click Send Card.

8.

The You're Done! page appears, confirming that your card has been sent. Buttons on the page enable you to return to the iCards main page (Figure 48), return to the category you just viewed (Figure 49), or send the same card to someone else (Figure 51).

Tips

  • If you click the Create Your Own category in step 2, a Select Image page that enables you to browse through pictures in your iDisk storage space appears (Figure 52). Use the file list to locate and preview the image you want to use. Click the Select this Image button to use the currently displayed image on your iCard. Then follow steps 4 though 8 to complete and send your card.

  • In step 6, you can click the Address Book button to select recipients from your .Mac Address Book. I discuss the .Mac address book earlier in this chapter.
