Food for Thought

Now it's time to give this chapter some real thought. Here are a few suggestions to get the juices flowing . To share your thoughts with other site visitors or see what they had to say about this chapter's topics, be sure to visit the book's companion Web site at http://www.smallbusinessonweb.com/.

  • Make a list of the information you think you want to include on your site. Then number each item by importance, with #1 being the most important. Where do you think the top three items should appear on your site?

  • If you expect your site to be more than 3 pages, build an outline of the site's contents. Or chart the contents using an organization-chart format. Remember to build a logical flow of information; this can be used for the actual organization of your site.

  • Use your Web browser to visit at least ten Web sites for companies like yours. (Search engines or professional directories can help you find them.) Make a list of all the questions the site left unanswered. This is the content that was missing from the site.
