Working with Graphics


Microsoft Word includes support for inserting and formatting graphic objects, including pictures, line drawings, diagrams, and charts. Graphic elements like these can make your documents more interesting or more informative to readers.

This chapter explores options under the Insert menu (Figure 1) and its Picture submenu (Figure 2) for inserting graphic elements in your Word documents:

  • Picture submenu options enable you to insert a variety of picture types, including clip art, image files, drawings, AutoShapes, and WordArt.

  • Movie enables you to insert movies in a variety of formats.

  • Text Box inserts a box in which you can enter and format text.

This chapter also provides some basic information for formatting and working with the graphic elements in your Word documents.
