The skills that you need to successfully master the Resolving Issues Related to Application Customization objective domain on the Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Microsoft Windows XP Operating System exam include:

    • Practice 1: Set the text size for viewing Web pages in Internet Explorer to its largest settings. Configure Internet Explorer so that your settings override any settings configured for the websites you visit.

    • Practice 2: Add the Full Screen and Related buttons to your Internet Explorer toolbar.

    • Practice 3: Configure Internet Explorer so that temporary Internet files are allowed to use only up to 100 MB.

  • Resolving issues related to customizing Outlook Express.

    • Practice 1: Add the Folder List button to the Outlook Express toolbar, and move it to the far left side of the toolbar.

    • Practice 2: Configure Outlook Express so that the Preview pane is shown to the right side of messages.

    • Practice 3: Configure Outlook Express so that the Contacts area and the status bar are not shown.

    • Practice 4: Configure Outlook Express so that it automatically checks for new messages every 10 minutes.

  • Resolving issues related to customizing the operating system to support applications.

    • Practice 1: Configure the Windows XP taskbar so that similar taskbar buttons are grouped.

    • Practice 2: Create a new folder named Shortcuts. In the new folder, create shortcuts to a number of your favorite programs, folders, and files. Create a new toolbar on the taskbar using the Shortcuts folder.

    • Practice 3: Clear the list of recently used programs from the Start menu, and configure the Start menu so that only the four most recently used programs are shown on the list.

    • Practice 4: Configure the Start menu to use small icons.

    • Practice 5: Change to the classic Start menu instead of the default Windows XP Start menu.
