Objective 2.1: Resolve Issues Related to Office Application Support Features

As a DST, you should be able to support a wide variety of applications in Windows XP, ranging from MS-DOS–based applications to modern 32-bit applications. Fortunately, Windows XP provides a wealth of support tools for doing just this.

In particular, you should be able to support the various applications that make up Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook. You should be familiar with how to install, configure, and customize these applications, as well as how to troubleshoot common errors.

To answer the questions in this objective, you should know how to configure the options for each of the Microsoft Office applications, including default save locations and user information. You should also know how to customize each application’s interface, including adding and removing toolbars, creating custom toolbars and menus, and adding and removing commands from the interface.
