OK, it's time to add those 'solo breaks.' You can copy the score or invent your own. You may have noticed that most of the parts are made up from the 'blues scale' beginning on G (G Bb C C# D F G). Try using it for your improvised breaks.
Follow these steps:
Ensure that 'Qua off' is selected. This will give us a more realistic performance.
Either record my trombone break (Figures P3.43 and P3.44), or better still, invent your own. Rule of thumb? Keep it simple!
Record a tenor sax break (Figures P3.45 and P3.46).

Try adding some pitch bend data from your keyboard as you play the breaks. A trombonist will typically use his 'slide' for glissando effects in solos.

View the pitch bend data in the Event List window ( Figure P3.49 ) or Hyper Draw in the Arrange window, zoom in on a sequence ( Figure P3.50 ).
