In this chapter, you've learned about transactions, including the ACID properties of a transaction and the modes used to specify the beginning and the end of a transaction. You've also learned about SQL Server locking management features, levels of locking, and locking modes. We've also taken a look at blocking, deadlocks, and the use of locking hints. You should now have a good understanding of basic transactions and transaction locking methods. Chapter 20 expands on the introduction to T-SQL presented in Chapter 13 and will show you how to use the INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE T-SQL statements, as well as the other statements you might need when writing transactions and stored procedures.
