Part 4 is provided to close out the overall discussion of realizing the N1 Grid vision. It does not pretend to be the seminal reference for implementing N1 Grid solutions. The core of this book has focused on preparing and architecting as the critical early components to realizing N1 Grid solutions. This implementation section is provided to give a brief look at what the next step beyond preparing and architecting would look like. The earlier discussions of preparing and architecting have provided enough detail to enable IT organizations to undertake a specific implementation plan. Part 4 includes the following chapters:
Chapter 12 describes a case study of implementing the N1 Grid system. The chapter summarizes a large number of implementation issues. Through a sample flow of an N1 Grid software implementation, a multiphase plan for overall improvement is delivered.
Chapter 13 focuses on the four products that are the core examples used in the architecture discussion in Part 3. The example products that support infrastructure virtualization, infrastructure provisioning, application virtualization, and application provisioning are briefly described and references are given for more technical content.
