CONTACTING AN ADDRESS

The thing you will do most often is use the Address Book to contact someone. This is handled with a few menu items that we've seen and talked about before. When you click the trackwheel to display the menu, either on the Address List screen or the View Address screen, several menu items may be displayed depending on the Address that has been selected.

The four menu items Call Name, Email Name, SMS Name and PIN Name (where Name is the name of the selected contact) allow you to contact the person using the specified method (see Figure 10.8).

Figure 10.8. An address entry with contact information allowing all four menu items to become available.

Each of the menu items is only displayed if the address has the information needed to contact the person in that manner. If the address entry has something in the Email field, then the Email Name menu item will be available. Phone Name and SMS Name both are shown if there is something in any of the phone fields, Home, Work, Mobile, or Pager. The PIN Name menu item is available if the PIN field of the entry has something in it.

If the address entry has more than one Email field or information in more than one of the phone fields, then you will also need to choose which field it should use. When this happens, a dialog, shown in Figure 10.9, is displayed listing all of the possibilities. Choose the one you want to use by scrolling the trackwheel to the desired button and clicking the trackwheel or pressing the Enter key.
