Suzie Hwang Pun

Suzie Pun is an assistant professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on synthetic gene and drug delivery systems. She received her B.S. in chemical engineering at Stanford University. For her graduate work, she developed polymeric materials for drug delivery and obtained her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology under the guidance of Mark E. Davis in 2000. She then worked at Insert Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist, pioneering the use of cyclodextrin-containing polymer delivery systems for nucleic acids. She joined the faculty at University of Washington in 2003 and has published 16 papers in the field of drug delivery. In addition, she has 8 granted or pending patent applications.

Pun has been recognized by MIT Technology Review magazine as one of 2002's "Top 100 Young Innovators" in its TR100 Awards. She is the recipient of a Career Development Award from the National Hemophilia Foundation (2004), a Young Investigator Award from the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (2005), and a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award from the NSF (2005).
