Appendix A. Troubleshooting

No software is ever perfect, and unfortunately iMovie 3 has more than its fair share of "challenges," as an optimistic friend of mine likes to say. It would be easy to say that Apple released it too early, or just didn't perform the type of quality control that one would expect but some iMovie 3 users report none of the problems that other people are running into.

As of this writing, Apple has released three updates since the introduction of iMovie 3.0, which have made strides toward improving performance and fixing bugs. So, my first bit of troubleshooting advice is to make sure you're running the latest version of iMovie; check the iMovie page at Apple's Web site (www.apple.com/imovie/) or run Software Update (in your System Preferences).

Also, check Apple's online support discussion forums (http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx/iMovie) to see if other users have found solutions or workarounds to a problem you may be experiencing. iMovie users make up a dedicated community, and I owe a great debt to many folks online who have prodded the program to find answers.

Finally, and perhaps most important give Apple feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html). It's the best way to communicate what needs fixing.
