Follow-Up After the Sale


A good tool for acquiring input regarding your business, product, and customer service is an after-sale survey. Wait a few days after customers have received your product or service, and then email a customer-satisfaction survey. The elements of the survey should include the following and should be just check boxes and/or radial buttons:

  • How did you hear about our company?

  • Were you pleased with your product?

  • Would you purchase from us again?

  • Would you recommend us to others?

  • Was ordering from us convenient?

  • How was our customer service?

  • Did you receive your product on time?

  • Can we improve in these areas?

  • Overall rating?

At the very end of the email survey, provide a comment box for additional comments. You can also take this opportunity to say thank you to the customer by including a discount code. This encourages repeat customers.

You might also want to add some kind of an incentive to make the customer want to fill out the surveypossibly free shipping on their next order, a coupon, or a free gift.
