Multiple Profiles Don't Work

I've set up multiple profiles, but when I open Outlook, it never prompts me for a profile.

There are two reasons for this behavior. First, when you define multiple profiles, you also need to tell Outlook to prompt you for a profile when opening. Click the Start menu, Control Panel, and then the Mail applet. Click the Show Profiles button to display the Mail window, as shown in Figure 2.3. Select the option to have Outlook prompt for a profile to be used.

If you already have that option selected and still aren't prompted for a profile, check to see whether Outlook continues to run after you think it's closed. The easiest way to test this is to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Click the Processes tab and check to see whether Outlook.exe is listed. If it's there, but Outlook has been closed, something is preventing Outlook from closing properly. Typical causes are add-ins and custom forms. Unfortunately, narrowing down the problem is an exercise in patience. Disable each add-in, one at a time, to see whether that fixes the problem. If your problem is with a custom form, check your code to ensure that all variables have been properly released when the form closes.

Too Many Outlooks?

When I open Outlook, I get three open Outlook windows: Inbox, Calendar, and Contacts. Rebooting doesn't fix the problem.

If you open multiple Outlook windows, Outlook remembers these settings when you exit Outlook. If you simply select File, Exit to close Outlook after opening multiple windows, the next time you open Outlook, you'll see all three of those windows open. If you don't want this behavior, use the close button in the upper-right side of the Outlook window to close unwanted windows before selecting File, Exit from your main Outlook window.
