Although XForms hasn't exactly taken the world by storm by ripping the forms out of XHTML and custom development, it is poised to become more important in the future. The merger of XForms into XHTML 2.0 and the support now built into many browsers mean that developers will have a native XML solution for creating, editing, and distributing form-based solutions.
If you are already developing a solution that leverages Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat, you may want to look at their proprietary solutions for your form-based needs. InfoPath and Lifecycle Designer provide graphical designers to create the forms, simple no-code data binding via XPath statements.
