Visual InterDev 6 is available both as a stand-alone product and as part of Visual Studio 6. Visual InterDev 6 fully interoperates with the other tools in Visual Studio, including Microsoft FrontPage, Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual J++, Microsoft Visual C++, and other Microsoft technologies. As a key component of Visual Studio, Visual InterDev 6 is used to integrate components and applications created with other Visual Studio tools into seamless Web applications.
Visual Studio provides the "shell," or framework, that hosts Visual InterDev 6. Aspects of the Visual InterDev interface, such as the Project Explorer and Toolbox, are actually part of Visual Studio and are shared by several Visual Studio applications as well as by Visual InterDev. For example, Visual J++ also uses the Project Explorer and Toolbox features of the interface.
