The Document Gallery Framesets

 < Day Day Up >

The Dreamweaver Document Gallery contains many useful frameset configurations all prebuilt and ready to roll. Their frames are sized and named, but you still have to save each page or use pre-existing pages for frame sources.

To use one of the framed layouts, choose File ® New or press Control+N (Command+N) to open the Document Gallery. As shown in Figure 39-8, clicking the Framesets category offers many different configurations of simple and nested framesets. To see an example and explanation of each, select a frameset. To choose a specific frameset, select it; then click the Create button.

Why Add No Frames Content?

Dreamweaver MX lets you specify content for older graphical browsers and aural or text-based browsers through the use of the <noframes> tag. If your site is simple, you may be able to build a single large page that incorporates all your content. Use anchor links to move the visitor up and down the single page into each section of the site. If your site is quite large, you may need to provide an alternative site that is not frames-based. In both cases, avoid simply providing a link to update the visitor's browser; many users have good reason to use a browser that does not support frames.

To access the <noframes> tag, choose Modify ® Frameset ® Edit NoFrames Content. The Design view is cleared, and you can add text and other content as desired.

When you have a frameset chosen, you can save the frameset and then its pages or use the Save All method described earlier in the chapter.
