The Property inspector in Fireworks is very much like the one in Dreamweaver. (See Figure 15-8.) The Property inspector is below the document window. You can click the expander arrow to open and close it. The Property inspector is context-sensitive, meaning that its contents change based on which object you select in the Document window. Select any tool and look in the Property inspector. Click another tool and notice the change.
Figure 15-8: The Property inspector
New Feature | The Property inspector is a new addition to Fireworks MX. It replaces the Effects, Objects, Tool Options, Stroke, Fill, and the Color Table panels. |
The Property inspector lets you change settings by adding a value in text boxes (such as the size of a font) or by using a slider. If you use the slider, you can see the changes onscreen right away. If you type in values, you must press Enter (Return for a Mac) to accept the settings and update the canvas.
You'll be using the specific tool options throughout the Fireworks section of this book. You will discover the many options and functions available via the Property inspector as you use the various tools.
