2.4 IS security plans are in place, but training lags

 < Day Day Up >

Survey respondents were asked if their organizations had an IS and network security plan in place. While 73 percent reported that there was an IS and network security plan in place, 7 percent reported that there was not a plan, and 17 percent reported that the plan was in the development stages. Respondents were also asked if employees had been trained on the IS security plan. Table 2.5 shows the reported status of IS security training.

In a related question, respondents were asked if their organizations had a computer-incident response plan in place. Only 53 percent reported that there was an incident-response plan in place, 20 percent reported there was not a plan in place, and 16 percent reported that the computer-incident response plan was being developed. The remaining 11 percent were not aware of the status of the plan. Once again, respondents were also asked if employees have been trained on the computer-incident response plan. Table 2.6 shows the reported status of incident-response training. Table 2.7 shows the status of training on antivirus measures and what employees should do if they believe a virus has hit their computer system.
