Summary

This chapter has presented information security policy considerations as they relate to SharePoint Server 2007. Remember that there is a host of other policies that should be written if you want to create an effective set of policies for your company. The introduction of SharePoint Server 2007 into any environment presents some unique security challenges that should be considered before you deploy SharePoint Server 2007 in your production environment.

• Information security policy One or more explict statements that formulate what to do or not do in a given situation.

• Change control The policies and methods employed to control when and how change occurs on a network or server

• Personal use The use of company computers that are not owned by the employee for the exclusive benefit of the employee's own interests, ideas, objectives and/or goals. These interests, ideas, objectives and/or goals are not job related nor are they part of the enumerated interests, ideas, objectives and/or goals of the company.
