Section 9: Multicast

Q: Can I achieve any multicast without PIM?

A: It is possible.

Q: But will my multicast traffic propagate over my interfaces if I do not use PIM?

A: This is another back-to-basics type question; do you recognize the address 224.0.0.9?

Q: Is the address that of the RIP V2 update address?

A: Yes.

Q: But the question does not state that I can use a routing protocol to achieve this?

A: It does not say you cannot.

Q: So I can enable RIP V2 between the routers?

A: If this allows R6 to respond to the pings, then yes.
