Section 2.3: RIP

Q: What RIP version do I need to configure, version 1 or 2?

A: Please refer to your IP IGP diagram. It is also part of your lab documentation.

Q: Can I use the passive-interface command to make sure only R4-e0/0 will advertise RIP?

A: The exercise does not say you cannot use it, so there is no restriction barring you from using it.

Q: I can configure three different solutions to achieve the filter part. Is there a preferential approach?

A: You can configure any solution because the criteria is matched.

Q: I am not receiving any routes from BB2. Can you verify if the BB2 is up?

A: Yes, I will verify. Can you ping the BB2 RIP address? If not, please go back to your Layer 2 configurations, the VLAN setup, and make sure you did not miss anything. If you can ping and you are still not seeing any routes from BB2, I will definitely double-check the BB2.

Q: I configured the filter on R4, but I am still seeing all routes from BB2. Can you verify that I do not have an IOS bug?

A: No, we do not have an IOS bug. I have been running this lab exercise and it works just fine. Please double-check your configuration.
