I have several graphics and geometry books on my shelf. Some of these books are very good and their authors are extremely knowledgeable. However, some of the best books are often the hardest to read. In some cases, you need to have a fairly deep understanding of the topics to even begin to grasp the new material. This book is a little different because it is based on the assumption that you are relatively new to the concepts and mathematics of curves and surfaces. I will explain the math in simple terms, with an emphasis on clarity over rigorous math. If you choose to pursue advanced topics, this book will serve as a good warm-up.
This book is aimed at anyone interested in learning the basic concepts behind curves and surfaces. Much of the focus is on game development, but the ideas also have applications for people who are interested in CAD, 3D modeling, and visualization. If you are working in these areas and have not had formal training in curves and surfaces, this book is for you.
