MMC (2000 AND XP ONLY)


Opens a Microsoft Management Console (MMC). It is normally run from the Run dialog rather than the command prompt. If you have created or saved an MMC console, this command is an easy way to open it. MMC is beyond the scope of Part I of this book, but you might be instructed to use it by a Microsoft support technician. For more information on MMCs, search Windows 2000’s or XP’s Help for MMC.

Use

Type “MMC” in the Run dialog. If opening a saved console, navigate (browse) to the location of the saved console file, and then type “MMC” followed by a space and the filename.

Switch

/a: Opens a saved console in author mode. This switch is necessary to make changes to saved consoles.
