DedicationI have always chuckled when reading the dedications in technical books. After all, it's not as though a technical book is an important literary work along the lines of War and Peace. This book has changed my perspective. I now know the great deal of work that goes in to a project such as this and the sacrifice that loved ones make so that it might happen. To my wife, Becky, thank you so much for your patience as I sat alone in my office for hours and days on end. I love you very much. To my two-year-old son, James, thank you for being so understanding while "Dadas writes chapters," and thanks to my editor for removing the "contributions" James made to them when I wasn't looking. Last, but not least, to my wonderful parents who have always shown their support and love. Jim Cheshire Dearest Heidi, thanks for putting up with this whole project right after the birth of sweet Paige. Your patience and presence is heaven sent. I love you. Dearest Lord, thank you for giving me a wife with such patience, a job that lets me be me, and a promise of eternity with you. I love you as well. Paul Colligan |
