Chapter 1. Getting Started

One of the reasons why InDesign has become so popular is that it uses many of the same tools, palettes, and onscreen elements that are found in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. So you may be tempted to skip this chapter which covers those onscreen elements.

However, despite the fact that InDesign comes from Adobe, it has features that you won't find in those other Adobe applications.

So, although you may think you know everything in this chapter, take a quick look at these pages. You may discover some things you didn't realize were in InDesign.

Of course, if this is your first introduction to an Adobe product, you'll want to read this chapter very carefully, as you will learn techniques you can use for either Illustrator or Photoshop.
