Moving Forward

This wraps up Part II of the book, which deals with programming-level issues within the realm of usability. Too many people think the term usability extends to just the GUI. But if you focus your usability on only the GUI aspects, your software will suffer.

In this chapter I looked at the usability issues pertaining specifically to object-oriented programming. OOP has a long history, with a lot of people misunderstanding it. In this chapter I gave you tips on how to solidify your own understanding of OOP and how to make it work for you while providing strong usability.

With the next chapter, I begin Part III, which is called “The Business of It All: It’s ‘ Dollars and Sense.’” Whereas the present part demonstrates that usability extends to the programming realm, the following part shows you that usability has some business and financial aspects as well. Don’t go away! Let’s make some money.
