Introduction

With the release of JOGL, just about any C/C++ OpenGL-based render engine can now be ported to Java. But not everyone has the C/C++ engine handy or one with the up-to-date features they want. In this chapter we will begin by building a simple retained-mode JOGL renderer, then further examine the 3D engine process using scene graphs, a generic and popular system for 3D rendering.
