Color and Gradient Functions

Color and Gradient Functions

Colors

Mixed-ink colors are new to InDesign CS. They are swatches composed of user -defined percentages of one or more process colors and of one spot color. A related feature, called mixed-ink groups, lets you create a set of mixed-ink colors at one time by specifying the range of source colors and the increments of each to mix for each subsequent swatch in the group .

Spot colors (called spot inks in Photoshop) are now imported into InDesign CS when you place Photoshop images into InDesign. They'll appear in the Swatches pane.

The Add button in the New Color Swatch and New Tint Swatch dialog boxes is new to InDesign CS. It lets you add several items in turn without having to leave the panes.

Gradients

If you paste or drag and drop Illustrator objects into InDesign, any gradients are now editable in InDesign CS.

In InDesign CS, you can now select the [Paper] swatch essentially , transparency or no color as a stop point in a gradient.

You can now drag swatches from the Swatches pane to the gradient ramp to set a stop point.

The Add button in the New Gradient Swatch dialog box is new to InDesign CS. It lets you add several items in turn without having to leave the pane.
