Measuring the performance of your Web application means defining the performance criteria that are relevant to your application and testing them accurately. In this chapter we discussed the various relevant metrics in performance testing, how to accurately measure them, and how to improve the performance of your application based on this data. Even though every application is unique, you can apply the general guidelines put forth in this chapter to nearly any ATL Serverbased application.

One of the more interesting technologies that Microsoft has released in recent times is the Passport technology. The Microsoft Passport service enables application developers to authenticate using a central service instead of creating their own. In the next chapter youll see how you can use ATL Server to access the functionality provided by Passport.
