Chapter 5. Sports Blogs

Were blogs invented specifically for sports fans? No, but there is no better use for blogs. If you're into sports, blogs are like free tickets (yes, that good). Here are some examples of whats possible:

  • Need to communicate just how poorly the Dodgers played in the bottom of the eighth last night? You're not alone. Fellow fans are probably complaining about it right now on a Dodgers-related blog.

  • Can't wait to taunt your archrival high school before the big basketball game? Join the fan team over at your friend's high school blog.

  • Confident that you can predict every AFC game final before Sunday's matchups? Have at it on an AFC NFL blog.

The blog concept seems as if it was created exclusively for sports fans and athletes.

Wherever sports fit into your life, blogs just made that interest/obsession way, way more interesting. This chapter shows you the best examples of how sports blogs make being a fan exponentially more fun.

Literally thousands of blogs exist for every sport and team in the United States, let alone soccer-obsessed Europe and South America, and rugby/cricket-obsessed Australasia. The goal of this chapter is to get you started down the sports blog highway. If you don't see your favorite team in this chapter, use other blogs' blog rolls to jump around in the blogosphere. Soon you'll be laughing or fuming over fellow fans' thoughts.

Note

If your favorite team isn't listed in this chapter, or even your favorite sport, not to worry. Dozens of blogs exist for every team and every player. Whether those blogs are updated is another matter. Just search Google for your favorite team in quotes and then add the word "blog" after that. For example, an Iowa Cubs fan would use this search: "iowa cubs" blog.
