Upload the Image

You need to upload your image to a spot on the Internet where you will be able to point to it in your template. Yahoo! GeoCities provides free hosting for items such as an image. The goal is to copy a URL that points to the image you just created. If you have a Yahoo! account, visit the http://geocities.yahoo.com/ site and sign in (or just sign up if you aren't yet a Yahoo! member). Follow these steps to upload your image to a free hosting site so that you can obtain a URL that points directly to the image:

1.

After you log in to Yahoo! GeoCities, click Easy Upload on the right side of the page.

2.

Click Browse, find the image on your computer, and then click Open. Afterward click Upload Files.

3.

When the confirmation page appears, click File Manager.

4.

You see your file listed on the next page. Click the View link next to the name of your file (see Figure 13.10).

5.

The image you just uploaded appears on a new page. Copy the URL at the top of the page (see Figure 13.11). You will need this for the template.

Great! You have the URL you will use to place a new background behind the sidebar in your blog.
