The GroupWise View

From ConsoleOne, you access the GroupWise view by doing the following:

1.

Choose Edit, Preferences.

2.

Check the Show View Title option. This way, it is easy to distinguish when you are in GroupWise view.

3.

Select the GroupWise System icon, which displays the window shown in Figure 5.1.

Figure 5.1. The GroupWise view

This window displays your GroupWise system and does so in a way that clearly illustrates the relationships between domains, gateways, post offices, and other objects. The window is divided into two side-by-side panes.

The System pane, on the left in Figure 5.1, displays the GroupWise system and the domains and post offices. The display follows the GroupWise domain and post office hierarchy: Domain icons are at the first level, and post offices are at the second level.

The Object pane, on the right in Figure 5.1, displays all possible GroupWise objects, including domains and post offices. Because either a domain or a post office must own all GroupWise objects in the GroupWise view, these objects are viewable only on the Object pane on the right.

Filtering the GroupWise View

The Object pane cannot display all types of GroupWise objects at once. An object filter drop-down menu determines the types of objects that are viewable.

The drop-down filter shown in Figure 5.2 provides up to 10 types of filters for easily maneuvering among GroupWise objects.

Creating GroupWise Objects

You can create GroupWise objects, especially user objects, from either the GroupWise view or the eDirectory view in ConsoleOne.

To create a GroupWise object from the GroupWise view, do the following:

1.

Highlight the GroupWise System or a domain or post office. Right-click and select New.

For example, you might want to create a new user and immediately associate that user with the CORPPO post office.

2.

Select the CORPPO post office, and right-click.

3.

From the New menu item, select User.

4.

Proceed through the object-specific dialog boxes.

This method enables you to create an eDirectory user and assign the user to a post office with a mailbox in essentially one step.
