Auditing the GroupWise Client Upgrade

Following are steps you can take to determine who has upgraded/updated their GroupWise client:

1.

The GroupWise POA has a feature that can give you a quick look at who has upgraded the GroupWise client to GroupWise 7. For you to be able to see this feature, your GroupWise POA should support HTTP monitoring and your post office should support some other features. You can enable HTTP monitoring in ConsoleOne or in the startup file of the POA; using ConsoleOne is recommended.

2.

Open the properties of the GroupWise Post office object, Client Access Settings.

3.

From there, you will see two sections that allow you to define the minimum client release version and date. From the Minimum Client Release Version (x.x.x), you can choose a version of the GroupWise client from a drop-down list, or if the version of the client you are interested in is not listed, you can type the version number of the GroupWise client you are interested in monitoring. In the Minimum Client Release Date field, you can check the calendar icon to specify a date of the GroupWise client release. Notice that when you select a predefined version, the date field is entered automatically for this particular version of the GroupWise client. You should verify that this information is correct by checking the GroupWise client from Help, About GroupWise. This will tell you the release date and version of this particular client.

4.

After enabling these settings on the post office, click OK to apply them.

5.

Go to the POA's HTTP port in this manner from your web browser at http://207.40.197.201:7181.

Note

If you are not sure what HTTP port your POA is using, you can access the C/S port (1677) and it will redirect you to the HTTP port.

6.

You might be prompted for a username and password. After you've accessed the POA via HTTP, go to the C/S Users link. From there, you can view the version of GroupWise client that your various users are using. Any user who is using an older GroupWise client than you specified will appear in red. Any user who is using a newer GroupWise client will appear in blue. See Figure 12.15 for an example of the screen.
