The GWIA is a bit of a strange duck in that it has several sources of configuration. Each configuration source has its own express purpose. This section lists some basic information about the purpose of these configuration sources:
WPDOMAIN.DB
This is the domain database; the GWIA accesses this database for all kinds of GroupWise system information and general gateway configuration information.
GWIA.CFG
This is the main configuration file for the GWIA. Many of the changes you make in ConsoleOne are written to the GWIA.CFG file. There are several features in the GWIA.CFG that are not mapped into fields in ConsoleOne. These settings have to be enabled by editing the GWIA.CFG. The most up-to-date information on the switches that can be added to the GWIA.CFG is at Novell's documentation site (www.novell.com/documentation).
MIMETYPE.CFG
This file lists the various mime file types that the GWIA will recognize. New mime types can be added. Look at Novell's Knowledgebase for more information on this file.
FRGNAMES.CFG
This file is where you would add all the Internet domains (idomains) that the GWIA should listen for. As mentioned before, this file is quite often not used anymore, because you can now enter as many Internet domains as you want via ConsoleOne, as described in Chapter 16. Look at Novell's Knowledgebase for more information on this file.
ROUTE.CFG
This file is where you can add DNS Mail Exchange (MX) record overrides. So, for example, if you do intend for your GWIA send to ACME.COM but you do not want the GWIA to send to the publicly advertised MX record, then you would indicate the IP address for an SMTP that you want to send messages for ACME.COM to. Look at Novell's Knowledgebase for more information on this file.
GWAUTH.CFG
This file is where you can add overrides that allow another host to relay through the GWIA. There are some other purposes for the GWAUTH.CFG. As of the writing of this book, the best place for information on the GWAUTH.CFG is Novell's documentation site (www.novell.com/documentation).
BLOCKED.TXT
This file is appended to by the ConsoleOne snap-ins when you exclude certain hosts from sending to your GWIA. This file is created and edited when you define hosts in the GWIA's configuration under Access Control, SMTP Incoming, Do Not Allow From.
XSPAM.CFG
This is where you can define information regarding XSPAM headers and Junk Mail Handling. We'll wait to discuss this file fully in Chapter 25.
