This is another popular utility from Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell. Although NTFSDOS isn't a registry-editing tool, it deserves mention here because it's a valuable tool for quick recovery of the missing or corrupt files needed to load Windows NT/2000 (these files, of course, include registry hives). NTFSDOS Professional is a small utility, and can be started from system disks.
NTFSDOS Professional also contains the NTFSCHK tool for checking NTFS disks under DOS. It will allow you to check the hard disk and perform recovery, if boot problems are caused by corruption of the NTFS disk structures.
Download the trial version of NTFSDOS Professional from http://www.sysinternals.com.
Note that although NTFSDOS Professional isn't a freeware, the authors do provide a freeware utility of this type—NTFSDOS (which is provided with the source code).
