WDM (Windows Driver Model)

a common set of services designed to allow driver writers for certain classes of devices to construct drivers with binary compatibility between the Microsoft® Windows® 98 and Windows 2000 operating systems. (This binary compatibility is only possible on Intel Architecture-compatible processors.)

WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Lab)

a Microsoft group whose purpose is to ensure hardware functionality across the Windows Family of Operating Systems.
