Drawing a Preset Shape

[ LiB ]

You don't have to be a superlative artist to draw shapes and other items with Paint Shop Pro because it includes many common preset shapes, including rectangles, triangles , stars, and ellipses and fun shapes such as flowers, happy faces, telephones, and musical notes.

Drawing a Rectangle

When you're drawing a shape such as a rectangle, you can select the thickness and style of the outer lines, as well as the corner shapes or miters.

Keep the following facts in mind when you're drawing shapes:

  • If you click and drag from the top of the canvas toward the bottom, the image shape will be drawn from corner to corner.

  • If you click and drag from the bottom of the canvas toward the top, the image shape will be drawn upside down.

  • If you click and drag using the right mouse button instead of the left button, the image will be drawn from the midpoint to the outer edges.

The Retain style check box will maintain the shape and appearance as you see it in the drop-down box. Uncheck this option to use your own line style, corners, or colors.

Creating the Perfect Shape

Who says you can't draw a perfect circle? With Paint Shop Pro's Ellipse tool, you can. You can draw perfect squares, perfect circles, perfect stars, and so forth. The Shift key is the secret to constraining your drawing shapes. Holding down the Shift key when you're drawing any shape restricts the shape to a ratio so that all sides remain equal.
