Identifying the Tools

The Tools toolbar displays icons representing the drawing tools that are available in Paint Shop Pro. Some tools have an arrow next to them, which indicates that there are several similar type tools grouped together. Click on a tool to select it or click on any tool arrow to see the additional tools.

The table that follows lists the tools on the Tools toolbar and a general description of their functions. The tools are listed top to bottom.

Tool	Function
Pan tools	Increase or decrease the magnification and view area of the displayed image
Deform tools	Rotate, resize, skew, or distort the image
Crop tool	Eliminates areas of an image
Move tool	Moves a selection to a different area of an image
Selection tools	Make selections for editing, copying, or removing
Dropper tools	Select a foreground and background color or replace one color with another
Paint Brush tools	Paint an image by using a paintbrush, air brush, or warp brush shape
Clone brushes	Create brush strokes that duplicate part of an image, such as for removing blemishes from photos
Smudge brushes	Create several different effects that are similar to smearing paint
Lighten/Darken brushes	Increase or decrease lightness
Eraser tools	Replace colors in an image with the background color or transparency
Picture Tube tool	Paints images and shapes
Flood Fill tool	Fills an area with a color, pattern, or gradient
Text tool	Creates text areas and objects
Preset Shapes tool	Draws rectangles, squares, ellipses, circles, stars, and callout clouds
Pen tool	Draws lines, polylines, and freehand lines
Object Selection tool	Lets you move, resize, reshape, and rotate vector objects
