Absolute reference.

In a formula, a reference to a cell that does not change when you copy the formula. An absolute reference always refers to the same cell or range. It is designated in a formula by the dollar sign ($).



Active cell.

The selected cell in a worksheet. Designated with a border surrounding the cell.



Address.

The intersection of a column and row.



Alignment.

The position of data in a cell, range, or text block; for example, centered, right-aligned, or left-aligned. Also called justification .



Array.

A contiguous set of cells in a worksheet.



Attributes.

Items that determine the appearance of text, such as bolding, underlining, italics, or point size.



AutoFormat.

Pre-defined sets of styles that allow you to quickly apply formatting ( color , font, and so on) to your Excel worksheet.



AutoSum.

A function that adds a row or column of figures by clicking on the AutoSum button on the toolbar. Same as = SUM .



Axes .

Lines that form a frame of reference for the chart data. Most charts have an x-axis and a y-axis.
