While you are in Microsoft Word, you can create an Excel worksheet in the document. The worksheet is part of and saved as part of the Word file. The process of saving a document created by an outside application inside of another application is called embedding.
The fastest method to insert an Excel worksheet is to use the Toolbar button available in Word.
NOTE
Don't worry too much about the worksheet size. The size you specify is an estimate and Excel will provide access to the same number of cells as in a normal Excel worksheet; 256 columns and 65,536 rows.
NOTE
Double-click anywhere inside the worksheet to reselect it and continue working.
Even though when you first inserted the worksheet, you specified the number of rows and columns, Excel still provides access to the full worksheet size. You can continue entering data in additional rows and columns, although the entire worksheet may not be visible in the Word document. You can resize the worksheet to view more cells.
NOTE
When you deselect the worksheet, the table will display only the current cells. If all the data cells are not visible, they will not be displayed in the Word table either.
Dragging a corner handle will enlarge or shrink the worksheet in both height and width in proportion to its original size.
Dragging a side handle will modify the worksheet width only.
Dragging a top or bottom handle will modify the worksheet height only.
