Excel includes a series of preset behavior patternspatterns which determine where and how your files are saved, where Excel should move the insertion point, how items on the screen are displayed, and many other options. You can control Excel's behavior patterns by modifying preferences.
Excel begins with a blank worksheet; however, sometimes you have a worksheet where you use the same layout over and over again. Instead of retyping and reformating the headings, categories, and other information that you entered in a previous worksheet, you can use an Excel template to store the static information and produce your professional looking worksheet by entering just the new data.
In this chapter, you'll learn how to:
Modify Excel preferences
Open an Excel template
Save a template
Modify a template
