Uninstalling the Script Listener

The time will inevitably come when you need to uninstall or stop using the Script Listener. This happened to me when I realized I had to free up some hard disk space on my computer and found that my Script Listener log file grew to over 2 GB (ouch!). Now, since I don't write scripts every day, I just install the Script Listener whenever I need it.

Step One

First, be sure to close Photoshop. Make sure that a copy of the Script Listener file still exists in Adobe Photoshop CS2's Utilities folder (in the Scripting Guide folder). Delete the ScriptingListener.plugin or ScriptListener.8li file from the folder you installed it in earlier in this chapter (Adobe Photoshop CS2's Automate folder, in the Plug-Ins folder under Adobe Photoshop Only). Once you do this, Script Listener will no longer record what is going on in Photoshop.

Turbo Boost

Stop by www.tranberry.com for some cool scripting-related downloads and some great general Photoshop info. Jeff Tranberry is an engineer for Adobe and he creates some very cool scripts for Photoshop, so it's definitely worth a look.

Step Two

Since they are just taking up space now and not actually recording (or listening to) anything, delete the ScriptingListener log file(s) from your Desktop (in Mac OS) or C:\ drive (in Windows).

Photoshop requires your monitor resolution to be set to at least 1024x768. If you set it to anything lower than that, you'll find dialogs and windows will not be fully visible.
