The patterns of project leadership are not laws; performing them does not guarantee success. However, they are quite evident most of the time on projects that succeed and are often quite clearly lacking on the ones that fail.

In the end, patterns of leadership do not just happen. They need to be demonstrated through application. It is this demonstrative behavior that separates the project leader from the project manager.
