READING RSS FEEDS OUTSIDE OF SAFARI

Although Safari does a nice job of letting you read RSS feeds without leaving Safari, if you prefer to use your favorite RSS reader to read RSS feeds, just make a quick trip to Safari's Preferences (found under the Safari menu) and click on the RSS tab. When the RSS pane appears, from the Default RSS Reader pop-up menu at the top of the dialog, choose Select to change the default RSS reader to whichever program you prefer. Navigate to your reader and close Preferences. Now when you click on the RSS icon in Safari's address field, it will open that feed in your preferred reader.
