We start our discussion on High Availabilit y (HA) by ensuring that we all understand and agree on some of the terminology we come across when dealing with High Availability (HA). We discuss the "five 9s" concept and some of the technological challenges we face in trying to achieve such a goal. To conclude this chapter, we briefly discuss High Availability Clusters and how Hewlett Packard employs HA clusters.
