Howard Katz

Howard Katz lives in Roberts Creek, British Columbia, Canada, where he runs Fatdog Software, a company that specializes in software for searching XML documents. He's been an active programmer for more than thirty-five years (with time off for good behavior) and is a long-time contributor of technical articles to the computer trade press. He is the author of XQEngine, an open -source, Java-based, full-text XQuery engine hosted at SourceForge. He's lived and traveled extensively in Japan, can order sushi in reasonably good Japanese, co- hosts the Vancouver XML Developer's Association, and does backcountry skiing and ocean kayaking in his spare time with his wife Peg.
